The Everlasting Night Pit Kingdom! Are you repairing your body or overdrawing your life?
Hello, dear friends! Welcome back to our podcast. I’m Vegetarian Lion.
In the last episode, we followed Adventure Cat L to uncover the sweet trap of rainbow bubbles in the “Sugar-Coated Illusion Kingdom.” Fortunately, since the last episode aired, I’ve been very obedient and have been “strictly self-disciplined” with my diet. My status in the family has temporarily risen, and I still retain the right to sleep in bed tonight!
Alright, now that I’ve secured my bed, let’s pack our bags and embark on a brand new adventure with Adventure Cat L.
A bizarre kingdom forever shrouded in darkness: The Kingdom of the Eternal Night Pit
Having bid farewell to that land filled with the sweet smell of chemicals and rainbow bubbles, the adventurous cat L continued its journey. This time, it arrived at a kingdom with an unusually gloomy, even somewhat eerie atmosphere—”The Kingdom of the Eternal Night Pit.”
The most peculiar thing about this kingdom is that its sky is forever shrouded in darkness; there is neither sunrise nor sunset. And in the center of the kingdom lies a bottomless, enormous black pit.
As soon as L entered the city gate, he saw a strange scene: the people on the street all had deep dark circles under their eyes, their steps were unsteady, and their expressions were dazed. Even more bizarrely, whether it was a vendor pushing a cart, a guard on duty, or a resident sitting by the roadside, everyone was holding a shovel and frantically filling the huge pit in the center with soil.
L curiously approached and asked a guard who was panting heavily and could barely keep his eyes open, “Brother, what are you doing? Why aren’t you all resting? Why are you digging and filling in this hole in the middle of the night?”
The guard didn’t even bother to lift his head, replying in a hoarse voice, “Rest? In our kingdom, ‘sleeping’ is the most luxurious and wasteful thing! See this giant pit? This is our ‘pit of life.’ The king said that as long as we keep working, playing, and filling it with earth, the pit will be filled, and the kingdom will continue to function forever!”
The Lies of the Nightless Water: A Bottomless Pit of Overdrawn Energy
L looked at the seemingly bottomless pit, then at the guards’ bodies poised to collapse at any moment, and frowned as he asked, “But… this pit looks like it can’t be filled at all! What if you all go to sleep and exhaust yourselves?”
The guard chuckled dryly, pulled a bottle of fluorescent blue potion from his pocket, and gulped it down. His previously ashen face instantly flushed with an unnatural red, and his eyes widened in shock.
The guard shouted excitedly, “See? As long as we drink the ‘Potion of Immortality’ bestowed by the angels, we can forcefully stimulate our bodies and keep digging! Who needs to waste time like sleeping?”
However, L astutely noticed that when the guards drank the holy water and forcefully wielded their shovels, the central crater not only failed to fill up, but instead, due to their excessive draining of the earth’s energy, it became…Deeper and bigger!
Watching the citizens suddenly collapse amidst the revelry and euphoria, never to rise again, L gasped in shock: This wasn’t filling a huge hole; it was clearly using their own lives to dig a bottomless pit to bury themselves!
Back to reality: Are you also staying up late every day, “borrowing” from the future at exorbitant interest rates?
Dear friend, after hearing L’s experience in the “Eternal Night Giant Pit Kingdom,” did you also glance at the time on your phone and feel a little guilty?
Do you often find yourself on your phone late at night, around 11 or 12, even though you’re exhausted as if you’ve been run over by a car? You tell yourself, “This is the only time I have for myself all day. I’ll just watch 10 more videos and play one more game.”
Then the next morning, when the alarm clock rings, you feel completely drained and can only rely on cup after cup of strong coffee and energy drinks (the “night-long magic water” in the story) to force your nerves to mature and force yourself to go to work.
We think we’re using the night to “reclaim our lives,” but from a scientific and physiological perspective, we’re actually undertaking a brutal “flesh-and-blood” process to repair our own bodies.
- Sleep mode is not a system shutdown, but rather a “highest level of repair and detoxification”:Many people think that sleeping is just a way to pass the time. But in fact, when you enter deep sleep, your body is carrying out the most important “repair project” of the day—the brain activates a unique “cerebrospinal fluid washing mechanism” to help you clear away metabolic toxins accumulated during the day (including waste that causes Alzheimer’s disease); the immune system releases large amounts of cytokines to fight chronic inflammation; and damaged muscles and organ tissues also repair themselves at this time.
- Staying up late and consuming caffeine is like taking out a high-interest loan on your future:When you don’t sleep when you should and force yourself to suppress fatigue with coffee or energy drinks, you’re not actually gaining energy. You’re merely blocking the brain’s receptors for fatigue signals (adenosine receptors) and forcing a surge of adrenaline. It’s like a kingdom’s defense force is already exhausted, and instead of letting them eat and rest, you’re whipping them and forcing them to keep fighting!
If you borrow this kind of “usurious loan” for too long, your body’s kingdom will eventually face bankruptcy—immune collapse, endocrine disorders, memory decline, and even acute strikes of the cardiovascular system.
As the sole king of our physical kingdom, if we force our soldiers to work overtime every night and expect them to help us fight off illness and stay young, isn’t that a huge joke?
The core of self-help: Re-respecting the circadian rhythm and paying off sleep debt.
To reclaim control of the body’s kingdom, we must undergo a complete conceptual upgrade regarding “sleep”:
Sleep is not a byproduct of work, but the most priceless free medicine in the kingdom of health.
True self-salvation begins with re-respecting your body’s circadian rhythm. You don’t need to immediately go to bed at 9 pm every night, but you can try making a change tonight:
- Set “Digital Lights Out Time”:Put down your phone and tablet 30 minutes before bed. Blue light severely suppresses melatonin secretion, making your brain think it’s still daytime.
- Replace “staying up late to relieve stress” with “high-quality sleep”:Tell yourself that the best way to relax is not to watch a couple more short videos, but to give your brain a complete repair cycle.
- Stop using caffeine to mask your limits: The next time you feel like drinking your fourth cup of coffee to tough it out, try closing your eyes and taking five minutes of deep breathing, or give yourself a 15-minute nap.
When you start paying off your sleep debt and give your self-healing system enough time to work, you’ll find that headaches, rough skin, and irritability that have bothered you for a long time will miraculously disappear after a good night’s sleep.
I admire your companionship with Adventure Cat L. This shows that you have the wisdom to see through the lie of “Eternal Night Elixir”.
After tonight’s program, please turn off the lights, put down your phone, and say to your body, which has worked hard all day, “You’ve worked hard, get a good night’s sleep.”
If you found today’s program inspiring, please subscribe, follow, and share it with your friends who are night owls and rely on coffee to get through the night. I’m Vegetarian Big Cat, see you next time!
